Katie, Manager
What was your background prior to joining OC&C?
I attended my local comprehensive in Gateshead, before heading to Durham to study Economics. By the time I found out that spring weeks existed, it was much too late to understand what they entailed, let alone apply for any. I set my sights on an internship instead, applying to a broad range of companies within professional services. It was only when I was sat answering case studies in my interview with OC&C that I decided consulting was what I wanted to do after university. Luckily, I was offered a place on the internship - I spent the summer of 2016 with OC&C and then joined full time in January 2018.
What’s your favourite OC&C experience?
I've been fortunate enough to travel quite a lot with OC&C and have loved having the opportunity to visit and explore new places. I've had meetings in Genoa, Amsterdam, Chicago, Miami and even on a cruise ship - but working in our Boston office for a summer was a particular highlight. However, I think above all else, my favourite thing about OC&C is the people, especially my peer group. Without them, my experience at OC&C definitely wouldn't have been the same and I feel incredibly lucky to have met such a fantastic group of people.
What do you like to get up to in your free time outside the office?
Despite the extortionate price of a pint in London, I'm still a massive fan of a beer garden, so you can often find me in a pub on a weekend. Bad TV is also a guilty pleasure of mine and I have been known to binge watch my way through a multitude of sit coms and reality shows.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Always be yourself no matter what - be proud of your background (and your accent!)
