OC&C Strategy Consultants gives an extra push to the British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association
Friday 12 February 2016 | Press releaseGlobal firm OC&C Strategy Consultants is today announcing its partnership with the British Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association.
The partnership will see the global consulting firm provide funding to Britain’s world-ranking bobsleigh and skeleton teams, as they head to the global stage at the World Youth Olympics in Lillehammer on 12th February.
This season, the BBSA’s athletes have fought against the odds to top the world rankings, staving off competition from the conventional bobsleigh and skeleton strongholds of North America, Germany and Russia. The BBSA’s commitment to identifying great talent and giving its athletes access to world class training facilities and coaches has helped them achieve this despite the obvious disadvantage of not having an ice track in the UK. GB youth athletes now hold the top three places in the female bobsleigh world rankings, first, third and fourth in the male bobsleigh rankings, while their leading female youth skeleton slider won all four of her recent Olympic qualifying races.
Similarly, OC&C has challenged what was originally seen as a US-dominated industry to become a leading global strategy consulting firm, bringing clear thinking and consideration to the most complex issues facing today's management teams. Operating from 14 offices in 10 countries around the globe, the firm’s client roster includes some of the world's most respected companies throughout the business services, retail, consumer goods, technology, media and telecoms, and private equity sectors.
Will Hayllar, Partner at OC&C Strategy Consultants explained:
“The mind-set of British bobsleigh and skeleton athletes is one that greatly appeals to OC&C, and that’s why we jumped at the opportunity to support them. In the face of some pretty stark challenges, including the lack of an ice track in the UK and the fact that bobsleigh and skeleton aren’t grassroots sports in our country, British athletes are now among the best in the world - outranking competitors from the sport’s traditional homelands.
“At OC&C we pride ourselves on thinking differently, thinking clearly and challenging the way older, traditional management consultancies do business. This seemed to naturally fit the approach of the team of athletes, performance coaches and development officers at the BBSA. There are many synergies in the way we find and foster great talent too – like the BBSA, at OC&C we go the extra mile to find the most talented young people and create an environment that allows them to grow and become the best consultants they can be
“We hope that with OC&C’s backing it’ll be a smooth ride to gold for GB’s bobsleigh and skeleton athletes.”
Richard Parker, CEO of the BBSA added:
“We are delighted that OC&C have joined the British Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association team at what is an extremely exciting time for both sports.
“They share our values and our passion and we look forward to building a successful partnership with them as we look continue to develop the next generation of bobsleigh and skeleton stars.
“Our youth programmes have enjoyed a hugely impressive season so far and I have no doubt that they will continue to do the country proud at the Winter Youth Olympic Games over the coming 10 days.
“Knowing that OC&C are now supporting us in our quest to become the leading sliding nation in the world is a huge boost ahead of the Games.”
